A Posted by u/MUM2RKG American Shorthair 20 hours ago My cat is ridiculous. Insanely food motivated. I JUST fed him. He eats every 6 hours because he acts like he's being tortured if it's any longer. Humor

MUM2RKG OP. 17 hr. ago American Shorthair he's not like any other cat i've had when it comes to food. it's really, really bad. he's just SO food motivated. like.. the things he does.. it's so.. calculated. and constannnnnt. it's insane. it's just Jinsane.

NoNoNoJustCatsPlz 17 hr. ago Take advantage of it and teach him some tricks! I have an extremely food motivated cat at home and she's learned how to sit, lay down, rollover, jump on command. It can be a fun way to engage their brain!

MUM2RKG OP. 17 hr. ago American Shorthair i've tried! he's.. well...like most cats, haha. in that if it's not his idea ... he's not doing it. even for bribes. he doesn't have the patience. plus knowing him.. like say i taught him to roll over.. you'd just see him rolling all over the floor all the time.

ookyspookyqueen - 16 hr. ago . If you think it's a for real problem it might be worth getting her thyroid levels checked. A chemistry panel at the vet will be able to tell you if anything is off.

MUM2RKG OP. 15 hr. ago American Shorthair oh, he's had a full work up! he had a urinary.. blockage. and they kept him for 2 days and did a lot of tests. i was basically crying to the vet because i feel horrible. we've had him since march 2021 and he's gained 5 lbs. but we had a vet before that just.. wasn't helpful. completely missed his chicken allergy. which i think is sort of the start of this... getting much worse. because when we first got him .. he ate every 12 hours.. but he was still cra

but i know the biggest thing is that he's learned that if he's annoying enough, i will give in. i think i just have to stay consistent and not give in and hopefully we can fix this.

Machinimix 18 hr. ago Hunger is a normal state for cats. This is 3 hours after eating.

MUM2RKG OP. 18 hr. ago American Shorthair we accidentally created a mini jail because we put a laundry basket there to just block him.. but he jumped in it... and used the holes to his advantage. then i put him down.. and he came to the other side... and.. started making threats. this was 5 minutes... and 6 minutes.. after he ate. so.. there's that.

Bright-Efficiency-65 18 hr. ago He's actually trying to stop you from eating diced hotdogs. I can see it in his eyes "DON'T DO IT OP, YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS" 108 Reply Share MUM2RKG OP. 18 hr. ago American Shorthair i'd never... but my son however....

pef_learns 18 hr. ago Omg his little hangry face. Adorable little gremlin. Edit: My cat used to be exactly like that. It took a year of hard work to calm him down. Turns out, the fatter they are, the faster they get hungry. My grampa now only asks for food three times a day and has returned to a healthy weight. Be strong OP, its a hard hill to climb.

MUM2RKG OP. 17 hr. ago American Shorthair it's been 1.5 years. at night is the worst. but i measure all his food.. but he got big because i just got so tired of being harassed. at night he starts going crazy 2 hours before he eats. he starts walking all over me. he will lay and get some pets for a bit but when i fall asleep.. he's walking on my chest. sits there. if i don't get up, he turns so his butt is in my face, twapping me with his tail.. in my face. if that doesn't get me up.. he will fig

BotBotzie 19 hr. ago European Shorthair I think this is a big cat thing. I noticed switching to higher quality food thats mostly real meat and stock versus gelatin goo with chunks helps keep him satisfied a little longer. You could try investing in some food puzzles to keep him satisfied between feeds (lower regular meal ammounts or times if you do). Mine has done many thinfs but the time he jumped up next to me and slapped my ice cream to take out a chunk he could lick shocked me the most

MUM2RKG OP. 17 hr. ago American Shorthair oh, ice cream... when i eat mine he's immediately in my face pawing at it trying to get some. when i say this cat harasses and bullies us ... like, i'm not even exaggerating. it's so so bad. I'm not being dramatic. i have never met a cat like this.

he was in a shelter and then rescue most of his life.. and they said he wasn't like this. but i wonder if he's worried he won't eat or... maybe he just likes food. i dunno. but it's a problem for sure. it's just constant.. getting him to stop knocking stuff off tables and counters, pawing at the doors where we keep his food, meowing like he's dying, "attacking" my feet (he doesn't actually hurt me.. he nips at them... he's scratched me a few times but it's really nothing .. except annoying.. and

a we've tried everything. foil. water bottles, like spraying him - which i HATED. and he didn't give 1. he used it to clean himself. it did not faze him at all. we've tried the little puzzle things. if he can't get it quickly.. he gets.. mad? and will go back to knocking things off counters and scream meowing. tearing up the couches, bottoms of the doors, etc.
